A “knockoff” of a poster that Massimo Vignelli designed for a 1991 exhibition showcasing work he had done using only four typefaces: Garamond, Bodoni, Century Expanded, and Helvetica. The replica is set in a new typeface, Vignelli—which I created by combining letters from those four typefaces—and doubles as a type specimen poster. (The original was set entirely in Bodoni.) For Typography Summer School New York 2017.
The original poster and Vignelli’s six preferred typefaces, as seen in a spread in The Vignelli Canon.
