Build-A-Condo is a concrete hypertext poem that simulates the construction of a luxury condominium using language sourced from the Internet. The condo is “built” by clicking on a series of hyperlinked phrases; implicit behind the surrounding white space is a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood. A sequel, Build-A-Condo 2, replaces the phrases with draggable, brick-shaped renderings. Featured in the Coalition to Protect Chinatown & LES Community Art Fair, where I performed the poem, as well as an anti-displacement art show at CityGroup gallery.
