A nod to Gertrude Stein’s iconic phrase, Cheese is a cheese is a cheese is a digital gallery of cheese portraits drawn with code. It accompanied a cheese tasting that I held for my classmates at the Yale School of Art; the tasting featured cheeses named after three individuals: Marisa, Wyfe of Bath, and Tapping Reeve. During the tasting, I read a descriptive poem about each cheese and the character who inspired it; the poems are embedded in the code of each “portrait” and can be accessed with any browser’s web inspector.
